Masks and Vegetable Distribution

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Action for Rural Development Society (ARDS) distributed vegetables and masks to underprivileged communities in Devarakonda and Neredugommu Mandals, Nalgonda District, Telangana. This initiative aimed to provide essential support to vulnerable individuals, ensuring their access to food and protection against the virus.

Sustainable Development Program (SDP) -NABARD

The Sustainable Development Program (SDP) supported by NABARD in Telangana, located in Devarakonda and Neredugommu Mandals, Nalgonda District, focuses on:
1.Creating awareness among farmers about soil health and suitable crops.
2. Strengthening village and watershed institutions.
3. Promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
4. Improving farmers' income through allied agriculture sectors and livelihoods.
This program aims to enhance the overall agricultural sustainability and economic stability of the community.

Farmer Producer Company Ltd (FPC)

The Farmer Producer Company Ltd (FPC), funded by NABARD-Hyderabad, operates in Devarakonda and Neredugommu Mandals, Nalgonda District, Telangana. It is registered under the Indian Companies Act, 2013 (Section 581C), and can be formed by at least ten primary producers or a combination of individual producers and producer institutions. The company focuses on various primary produce sectors such as agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, floriculture, viticulture, forestry, and more. Additionally, it involves marketing improved seeds, fertilizers, handloom, handicrafts, and cottage industry products, as well as byproducts and ancillary industries. The FPC aims to enhance the collective strength of producers, improve access to markets, and increase their income.

WDF-Watersheds- Natural Resource Management Program

The WDF-Watersheds Natural Resource Management Program, funded by NABARD, operates in Devarakonda, Chandampeta, and Neredugommu Mandals, Nalgonda District, Telangana. The watershed in this region follows a north-to-south drainage pattern with a main stream originating from a hillock. Flash floods are common, with flood depths ranging from 1.00 m to 1.20 m, causing significant damage. The drainage system has become clogged with sand and silt, raising its level to that of the fields in many places. This has led to frequent flooding of cultivable land and crop losses during the rainy season. The program aims to address these issues through effective watershed management, improving water flow, and reducing the impact of floods on agriculture.

Integrated Watershed Development Program (IWMP)

The Integrated Watershed Development Program (IWMP) under the Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana (WDC-PMKSY) is being implemented in Pedda Adserla Pally Mandal, Nalgonda District, Telangana. Initiated by the Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development, this program aims to develop rainfed areas and culturable wastelands. Activities include ridge area treatment, drainage line treatment, soil and moisture conservation, rainwater harvesting, nursery raising, afforestation, horticulture, pasture development, and livelihood support for asset-less individuals. These efforts focus on improving land productivity, enhancing water availability, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region.

Vocational Training Centers/ Computer, Beautician, Tailoring & Embroidery Training's

Since 2002, Action for Rural Development Society (ARDS) has been implementing vocational training programs in Devarakonda, Chandampeta, and Neredugommu Mandals, Nalgonda District, Telangana, with support from board member donations and other founding agencies. The programs include:
1. Tailoring & Embroidery: Nearly 4,500 members trained.
2. Beautician: Approximately 750 members trained.
3. Computer Training: 5,500 members trained.
These vocational training programs aim to empower individuals with essential skills to improve their livelihoods and enhance employment opportunities, contributing to the overall development of rural communities.

Environmental Support Activity Program

The Jute Bag Making Training cum Production Center, supported by the National Jute Board, Kolkata, operates in Devarakonda, Chandampeta, and Neredugommu Mandals, Nalgonda District, Telangana. This initiative serves as both a training center and a production hub, providing local communities with the skills to produce eco-friendly jute bags. The program is part of an environmental support activity, promoting sustainable practices and reducing the reliance on plastic bags. By training individuals in jute bag making, the program also creates livelihood opportunities and contributes to environmental conservation.

Climate Proofing Project- NABARD

The **Climate Proofing Project**, supported by NABARD, is being implemented in Marrichettu Thanda Village, Devarakonda Mandal, Nalgonda District, Telangana. The project aims to reduce vulnerability to climate change in rain-fed areas while enhancing agricultural productivity, livelihoods, and farmer incomes. Key initiatives include:
- Crop planning using geo-hydrological studies and crop water budgeting.
- Water conservation measures and soil moisture retention.
- Introduction of drought-resistant crop varieties.
- Capacity building and awareness on climate change impacts.
- Weather-based farming advisories and market information.
- Adoption of climate-resilient technologies like alternate wet and dry paddy cultivation and micro-irrigation for crops like maize and cotton.
- Promotion of short-duration crops (e.g., pulses) and late-sowing varieties of maize and sorghum.
- Encouraging green fodder availability for livestock.
The project focuses on sustainable agricultural practices to help farmers adapt to climate challenges while improving crop yields and income.

Rural Development and Road Safety Program

The Rural Development and Road Safety Program, supported by Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. Zaheerabad through CSR funding, was implemented in Zaheerabad Division, Sanga Reddy District, Telangana. The program focused on improving road safety for local drivers and communities. Key initiatives included:
- Installation of zebra crossings at main centers in Zaheerabad.
- Placement of signal lights at Bidder Junction.
- Painting road safety pictures and installing radium stickers on signals for better visibility.
- Distribution of road safety materials to the local police department.
These efforts were aimed at enhancing road safety awareness, reducing accidents, and improving traffic management in the region.

MSME Awareness Programs

The MSME Awareness Programs, conducted through donations, focused on raising awareness about small-scale industries in Devarakonda, Chandampeta, and Neredugommu Mandals, Nalgonda District, Telangana. The programs aimed to educate local communities and entrepreneurs about the potential of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), providing information on business opportunities, government schemes, and the benefits of small-scale industry development for economic growth and job creation in rural areas.

Free Tailoring Machines Distribution

With the support of Mr. Rajavardhan Reddy Garu, M.D. of Max Cure Hospitals and President of Action for Rural Development Society, 50 tailoring machines were distributed to rural poor women. This initiative aims to empower women in rural areas by providing them with the tools to develop skills in tailoring, which can help them generate income, enhance their livelihood, and improve their socio-economic conditions.

Water Day awareness program organized

Action for Rural Development Society, Devarakonda Adwaryam organized an awareness program on 22.03.2024 as World Water Day. In this program, the president of the organization Shri. Khaja Khairat Ali spoke about the problems faced by farmers and people due to depletion of ground water due to climate change and the urgent steps we need to take to solve the water crisis. People are all focused on water conservation and creating awareness about water consumption. In this program, it was informed about the responsible use of water that farmers should take up rainwater storage pits and other water storage works in their farms to conserve groundwater and those who live in cities can build rainwater storage pits in front of their houses and conserve groundwater. The presidents of the organization informed that new technologies and innovative solutions are needed to solve the challenges of water crisis, which is necessary to keep pace with the growing global population. Bibifatima and Mahmood, representatives of women and students organization participated in this program.

Sustainable Development Program (SDP) Funding Agency NABARD, Hyderabad

Building on the success of the initial watershed programmes, NABARD has reoriented its approach towards Sustainable Development of watersheds by making the program much more holistic. The approach includes technology transfer, agriculture extension, credit intensification, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Integrated Nutrient Management (INM), promotion of Farmers’ Producer Organizations (FPOs), etc. Need-based capacity building and leadership development of the watershed community and convergence of various centrally sponsored schemes/ programmes also form part of the Sustainable Development Plan. As on 6 SDP Projects have been sanctioned, with total financial outlay of ₹60.00 Lakh has been released .

Farmer Producer Company Ltd (FPC)

The aim of the scheme is to promote new Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and support their initial financial needs, making them creditworthy, commercially vibrant, and sustainable business enterprises for farmers. ARDS is implementing three FPOs:
1. Vaibhavajyothi Farmer Producer Company
2. Mythri Farmer Producer Company
3. GurrapuThanda Farmer Producer Company
These FPOs focus on empowering farmers by providing them with a platform to collectively market their produce, access better resources, and enhance their livelihoods through improved agricultural practices and business models.
